GNL Quintero LNG Terminal (Quintero Bay, Chile)

Results

Insulations, Inc. has installed more Cryogenic Insulation on LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Liquefaction Plants and Terminals than any other North American based Insulation company.

The importing of LNG into the U.S. pretty much ended in the late 1970’s early 1980’s. At that time, the cost of the imported LNG became much higher than domestic gas. The few terminals in the Continental U.S. were mothballed.

However, all over the rest of the world the demand for Natural Gas kept growing, especially in industrialized countries like Japan and China; natural gas became the clean fuel for the Power Industry.

As a result, LNG Liquefaction Plants were being built all over the world and LNG receiving terminals were being built to re-gasify the LNG into natural gas.

Insulations, Inc. insulated our first LNG terminal in Puerto Rico in 2000. Since then, we have completed LNG projects all over the world. Recently, we have also been involved with LNG projects in the U.S., once the economics made it attractive to import natural gas again.

We are proud to say that we are currently completing our twentieth LNG project. This project is in Angola, Africa.

The Quintero Bay, Chile project was designed and constructed by CB&I’s London office. This project was a re-gasification terminal built in Chile to reduce their dependence on Argentina Gas.

Insulations, Inc. was awarded the Insulation portion of the project by CB&I. Insulations, Inc. has been doing business with CB&I for over 35 years.

Our Chilean company, Insulations, Inc. Limitada hired and trained local Chilean workers to install the Insulation. The project peaked out at about 535 direct hire workers.
